December 9, 2012

On December 4 I had garden duty. On this day I met with the garden attendant Matt and we discussed the problem of the aphids. He handed me a spray bottle that was filled with a homemade insect repellent with the primary solution containing soap. I began spraying the plants as he peeled back the leaves of the cabbage and collards. The areas I sprayed were  mostly on the leaves with large gray masses of aphids. After spraying every plant the first time, we went back for one good measure. Matt thinks that this should kill off most of the aphids as it has on other plants in surrounding gardens. Hopefully the aphids missed will be taken care of by lady bugs.photo (1).JPGphoto (2).JPG
